Phyllis’ story of how her son, Basil, has flourished at CHANGE has impacted her life in profound and beautiful ways. Although Phyllis has grown up in church, it wasn’t until encountering Elijah and Ashlee’s genuine heart for others, especially in the community and in CHANGE Kids, where the ideas of impact and church became a reality. A priority being to see her son cared for, welcomed, and included has shifted what it means to see the next generation flourish. Her desire to help people not feel like they have to do life alone - just as she has been helped through a loving church community - has fueled Phyllis’ joy and dedication to be a part of extending such love to others. Although there used to be hurt and a sense of distance within Phyllis’ previous church experience, discovering CHANGE has been a blessing to encountering the gift that is found only in a loving community. And the commitment to seeing young people challenged, inspired, and have a place to thrive has been life-changing, especially when it comes to the CHANGE Kids’ Program Leader, Ms. Kirby. For those who have children who need a supportive and caring environment, and for anyone looking to feel as though they belong,  Phyllis encourages those who are considering attending to avoid isolation and be a part of CHANGE. Ultimately, Phyllis reminds us that it’s all about focusing on our relationship with God - to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, above all - and to see people as being as important as they really are.
