...now I've found a place that believes in healing.
“Church hurt is real and the actions of man can cause people to give up on God. CHANGE has been a place where I have been allowed to share my truth and just sit and go through a tremendous healing process. Pastors Elijah and Ashlee (and the rest of the CHANGE family) have supported me every step of the way. I’m so grateful that I have found family and fellowship again.” - Heather
Heather’s story of living with intense pain from being in an unhealthy church speaks to those who have experienced being a casualty of a dysfunctional faith community. The result of being so involved and yet mistreated left Heather hesitant to be involved in any type of church, ever again, and included moments where she questioned her talents, giftings, and even her role with others as one who loved God. Did a healthy church even exist? After praying to be a part of a church that didn’t look like anywhere she’d ever been before, Heather found a video of CHANGE on social media and was curious enough to check it out.
Although it was challenging to enter a gathering space once again, Heather connected with Lead Pastor Elijah, and remembers that one of the most significant moments was when he told her, “On behalf of all pastors, let me just apologize for what you experienced.” Heather has stayed with CHANGE ever since. While the road to healing has been challenging, at times, and has come with opportunities to work through and gain a new perspective on past hurts, it’s also provided space for healing and wholeness. Even if you’re grieving or are rejecting returning to any sort of church community these days, Heather encourages you to try CHANGE - a place where unconditional love and encouragement is freely given, and where opportunities to walk out your faith, grow in your gifts, heal and, in turn, heal others, is celebrated.
